The said activity aims to build good rapport and camaraderie among the members of the media in the region, forging stronger ties between the Kasurog Cops and the Bicol Media as partners in providing credible and reliable information for the benefit of the public and to impart knowledge regarding personal safety and security to increase awareness of media practitioners in dealing with delicate matters/issues. The activity was mainly composed of two parts, the lecture proper and the fellowship night after the closing ceremony. The lecture was handled by primitive lecturers/ resource speakers invited by the PRO in order for the media practitioners be equipped with the tools they may able to use when faced with the dangers that are part and parcel of their practice. Moreover, topics being discussed are Pre-requisite and Threats for Media, Going on Dangerous Assignment, Personal Safety and Security, When Targeted? WHAT TO DO, How to own and possess Firearms and Practical Exercises: Personal Security Techniques. Another highlight of the activity is the covenant signing and open forum.

Police Regional Office 5 committed in bringing PNP service closer to the people in collaboration with the media conducted the 1st Regional Media Summit with the theme “Promoting Peace and Security through Strong Police Media-Relations” on August 10, 2018 at the Multi-Purpose Building of Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City in partnership with the National Union Journalist of the Philippines (NUJP) Albay Chapter; Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP); PRO5 Organized Press Corps; and all media practitioners from the different Police Provincial Offices in the Bicol region.
