PRO5 commemorates heroism of SAF 44

The men and women of Police Regional Office 5 under the leadership of PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE, RD commemorated the act of heroism and gallantry of the 44 members of the PNP- Special Action Force who fought and laid down their lives while serving warrant of arrest against a most wanted Malaysian terrorist, Zulkifli Abdhir or Marwan in the hinterlands of Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.

With pride and honor, PRO5 conducted a wreath laying ceremony to remember the bravery and to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the SAF troopers on January 25, 2021 in front of the Heroes Shrine inside Camp Ola. Their deeds and contributions in our peacekeeping efforts had become and inspiration to the entire organization to continuously strive in making the PNP’s vision into reality.

During the activity, PMAJ FREDDIE C HERRY, Admin Officer, RLRDD and a member of the PNPA Class 2009 to which the SAF 44 belongs rendered a message recalling some of the courageous acts of his classmates that vividly pictures their commitment towards service.

RD, PRO5, also gave his message, “It has now been six years since that fateful day in the fields of Mamasapano where 44 SAF troopers died in the line of duty. Their deaths continue to inspire and fill all of us with a sense of pride to have counted as brothers in the same organization such brave and gallant men who truly lived up to the highest ideals and expectations of what a police officer should be by offering their very lives in the performance of their oath to serve and protect the people and the nation.”

“It is my hope that today’s commemoration would once again remind us not only of our duties as police officers but of our social and moral responsibility as part of one community; of aiming to do something for the betterment of our community and the welfare of our people no matter how small and insignificant they may be,” he added.

Ms. Rosalinni V Moneda, Assistant Acting Regional Director of the Civil Service Commission, Regional Office 5 graced the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on January 25, 2021 held at the PRO5 Grandstand Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City.

Present during the activity is PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE, Regional Director, PRO5, members of the Command Group and the Directorial Staff.

The event also paved the way to recognized personnel of this PRO who bravely fought and risk their lives in line of their duties as protectors of the land and to ensure peace and security in the entire region.

Thus CSC Parangal sa Lingkod Bayani Awards were given to the late PCpl Randy Y Almanzor; Pat Robert G Sluarta; PMSg Sotero R Javier; and Pat Prince Lagdameo. Said awards were received by their respective beneficiaries.

An arrival honor was accorded to PMGEN ALEX BOTES SINTIN, Director, Philippine National Police Training Institute as the Guest of Honor and Speaker for the Graduation Ceremony of the “SANTINDIG” PSBRC Class 2020-02 hosted by PBGEN RAUL L BARGAMENTO, DRDA, PRO5 in front of the PRO5 Admin Building Camp, BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City on January 18, 2021.

Police Regional Office 5 rendered an arrival honor to the newly promoted one star general, PBGEN RAUL L BARGAMENTO, DRDA as the Resource Speaker during the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on January 18, 2021 at the PRO5 Admin Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City.

The arrival honors was hosted by PCOL JONATHAN P PANGANIBAN, Chief, Regional Plans and Strategy Management Division.

PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE, RD, PRO5 administered the simultaneous Mass Oath-taking, donning and pinning of ranks of the newly promoted Police Commissioned Officers and Police Non-Commissioned Officers for the 2nd Level Uniformed Personnel on January 15, 2021 held at the PRO5 Grandstand Camp, BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City.

In his message, PBGEN BUSTAMANTE said that, “In stepping up the higher rung of the career ladder, you also show your readiness and willingness to carry greater and more demanding responsibilities which I am confident you will be able to do.

PRO5 is fortunate to have police personnel who truly understand their roles in creating safe, orderly and peaceful communities. Though our efforts may not always be recognized, and even if we may not receive any monetary rewards, let us not forget that the greatest reward that we can receive is the gratitude of the people we serve and protect, and in knowing that we are part of a greater, nobler undertaking in making our communities safe for all.”

Police Regional Office 5, Regional Director PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE joins the members of the Command Group, Directorial Staff, Provincial/City Director, Directors of the Regional Support Units, Force Commanders and Chiefs of Police during the Traditional New Year’s Call held at Legazpi City Convention, Center on January 13, 2021.

The New Year’s Call is an annual tradition where PNP members pay a call to their commanders and key officials in their respective areas of responsibility. Such activity helps define the very essence of military and police profession and is designed to build esprit de corps and camaraderie.

“I consider myself fortunate to have men and women who have always demonstrated such fidelity, passion, and zeal in performing their duties and responsibilities. It is these qualities that have allowed us to accomplish so much this past year. And I look forward to another unknown yet promising year for our PRO. No matter how hard the challenges that may come our way, I am confident that we will definitely overcome them all.” —

Police Regional Office 5 headed by its Regional Director, PBGEN BARTOLOME R BUSTAMANTE, together with the Command Group and other personnel held its Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on January 11, 2021 at the PRO5 Grandstand, Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City.

As part of the activity personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 conducted a demo with regards to the Infodemic drive of the PNP dubbed as Coronavirus Awareness Response and Empowerment (C.A.R.E).

The initiative includes various socio-civic activities which aims to maximize information dissemination to fight the pandemic such as its causes, symptoms, complications, mode of transmission as well as its prevention.

PRO5 celebrates 27th PNP Ethics Day

Police Regional Office 5 celebrates the 27th PNP Ethics Day along with the other Police Headquarters in the country on January 4, 2021.

This year’s theme; “Nagkakaisang Pambansang Pulisya, Sama-sama sa Serbisyong Tapat at Marangal para sa Bayan” underscore the unity of each the members of the organization by standing as one in bringing optimum quality of police service to the community despite the challenges that it confronts.

Atty. Jenifer B Balleres-Bagay, Associate Provincial Prosecutor of Albay Office of the Provincial Prosecutor graced the said activity as the Guest of Honor and Speaker held at the PRO5 Grandstand, Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City.

The said event also paved the way to give recognition to some of our PNP personnel for their deeds and contributions that is reflective to the mandates of the PNP--- to serve and protect.

Medalya ng Kasanayan was awarded to PMAJ ALEJO B DESPACIO, Chief Regional Chaplain, for his relentless pursuit of providing moral and spiritual guidance and ethical direction to all PRO5 personnel, not to despair in this turbulent times, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic instead, hold on to their faith in God Almighty.

On the other hand, Medalya ng Papuri was given to PSMS ARNEL ANTE, a member of Daraga MPS Traffic Management Unit, Albay PPO for exerting efforts in locating the owner of the lost and found brown wallet containing cash and personal identification cards. The same award was accorded to PSSg Pamela B Ayes for her act of kindness and generosity by breastfeeding a two-month old baby crying loudly during the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program on July 28, 2020 at Taysan Village, Legazpi City.

Medalya ng Papuri was also given to Pat Edgar A Igsoc and Pat Niño P Palcon, both members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 5 for donating blood to Mr. Jackie Carinan of San Isidro, Goa, Camarines Sur and Mr. Bradecina of San Paulino of Tagas, Daraga, Albay who were both in need of blood transfusion to recover from their serious sickness.

Their selfless gestures is worthy of emulation by their peers in the PNP service as well as the community and brought positive impression to the image of this PRO and the entire organization.

A plaque of appreciation was also given to Atty. Bagay for sharing her time valuable time and wisdom during the event.

This annual celebration is vital to the organizational transformation of police officers who have bravely served the nation through the years and acknowledge the untiring support given by various stakeholders.

The PNP Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Standards has been ratified on January 7, 1992 which marked the day as significant and meaningful. In 1995, January of every year was declared as the PNP Ethics Day.

The Philippine National Police, Police Regional Office 5, Camp BGen Simeon A Ola, Legazpi City, through PRO5 Disposal Committee invites prospective bidders for the bidding of the items for disposal through PUBLIC AUCTION per lot of the following PNP properties which were found unserviceable and beyond economic repair as indicated in the attached document.
