Bicol PNP Raided Clandestine Shabu Laboratory in Catanduanes Featured

At Brgy Palta Small, Virac, Catanduanes, at about 6:00 PM, on November 26, 2016, the joint elements of Virac MPS led by PCINSP JAMES S RONATAY, ACOP, Virac MPS, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) led by PSUPT ALEX S PEDERIO, Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (RAIDSOTG)

CLEMEN, 5TH RPSB, led by PSUPT JORIS CANTORIA, MIG5, Bravo Coy 83rd IB PA led by 1LT JOMAR CLAVEL, overall supervised by PCSUPT MELVIN RAMON G BUENAFE, RD, PRO5 implemented Search Warrant No. 2016-55 issued by Honorable Lelu P. Contreras, Executive Judge of RTC, 5th Judicial Region, Virac, Catanduanes dated November 26, 2016 at the warehouse, suspected to be a Clandestine Drug Laboratory, located at Brgy Palta Small, Virac, Catanduanes particularly.

Said implementation of Search Warrant resulted to the arrest of Lawrence Flores Pinera, a caretaker of said warehouse who was present at the place. However, suspects Jayson Gonzales Uy and Paulo Uy at large as they were not present during the conduct of Search Warrant.

The operatives were able to recovered and confiscates the following Drug Items, controlled precursors and essential chemicals:
A.) One (1) white rectangular plastic container marked containing 792 grams of white crystalline substance;
B.) One (1) white steel basin containing undetermined amount of brownish liquid with crystal (meth base)
C.) One (1) white steel basin containing undetermined amount of brownish liquid with crystal (meth base).
D.) Five (5) big plastic container (Orocan) each containing white crystalline substance having the following markings and net weights:
a. 87.99 kilo grams
b. 107.65 kilo grams
c. 48.46 kilo grams
d. 55.75 kilo grams
e. 59.90 kilo grams
E.) One (1) hotplate with wire gauze
F.)Four (4) units of glass reactors volume capacity of 50000MI
G.) Two (2) digital weighing scale with weighing capacity of 30 kgs
H.)Two (2) big laboratory vacuum flasks marked SOCO RCLO5 –
I.) Filter papers marked
J.) Six (6) units of Hydrogenator
K.) Bulk Quantity of solvent

The search and seizure operation was conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner and witnessed by Media Representative- Jinky Lou A Tabor local correspondent of GMA News Network, Brgy Chairman Hilario T Sarmiento, and DOJ Representative Jay L Gratil.

Arrested suspect was informed of his Constitutional Rights and Rights Against Torture in a dialect known to him, which he confirmed that he fully understood the same and thereafter, was subsequently submitted for medical examination at EBMC hospital, Virac, Catanduanes.

Suspect was presented before the issuing court of search warrant upon its return. A case for violation of Sec. 8 (Manufacture of Dangerous Drugs/and or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals) of R.A. 9165 was filed before the office of the Provincial Prosecutor under the supervision of Prosecutor Francisco A. Samonte Jr. thru inquest proceedings docketed under NPS No. V-II-INQ-16K-00127.

Suspect was waived his right under Article 125 of RPC and opted to avail preliminary investigation and remain under the custody of Virac MPS pending said investigation.
