The ideals behind the MOA signing was based on the recent explosion incidents arising in the ports of Masbate which led to the damage of boats and other properties belonging to the private and the government sectors. This in return calls for the stringent implementation of security measures in Seaports and Ferry Terminal in Bicol Region. In the aim to pre-empt the re-occurrence of the same incident and possible acts of terrorism and violent extremism, repression of crimes, entry of illegal drugs the MOA prescribes the framework of governmental and operational policies to be undertaken by concerned units and other involved agencies in support to the operationalization of the Joint Task Force Bicol Integrated Port and Maritime Security. The agreement, in coordination and cooperation among concerned government agencies of Region 5 is expected to reduce crimes, improve public safety services, and provide prompt response and investigation when crime is committed to promote peaceful and secure ports all over the region. This activity is another major step in attaining the common goal of a safer, peaceful and orderly Bicol Region for the people to live work and do business.
