PCSUPT ATTY ARNEL B ESCOBAL, Regional Director, PRO5 together with the members of PNPA Class 2009 "KAISANG BISIG" led the wreath laying ceremony in observance of the National Remembrance for the heroic Sacrifice of the 44 elite police commandos killed in a bloody encounter in Mamasapano, Maguindanao while duly performing an anti-terrorism operation four (4) year ago.

The wreath laying was followed by an invocation given by SPO2 Mimi Espeso from the Regional Pastoral Unit and was accompanied by a welcome remarks rendered by PSSUPT EDGAR DM CACAYAN, Acting DRDA of this PRO. As a special tribute to SAF 44, PCINSP DOMINGO TAPEL gave a short message remembering one of his batch mate included in the tragic Mamasapano encounter. Subsequently, RD ESCOBAL delivered his message, wherein it was emphasized that the Mamasapano incident set as reminder and a testament to the very real danger that all of us face in performing our jobs as members of the police force. But what befell them should not however discourage but rather inspire us more for it opened the eyes of many to the truth that being a man or woman in uniform is more than just being a member of a profession, it is an answer to a noble calling. "It is right to commemorate their sacrifice with ceremony; to raise monuments to those who have fallen; to give them high praises", he added.  The SAF 44 have shown their expression of love for the country and love for their families. They took the fall and that alone deserves the highest respect and admiration for them and to every police officer who offer their lives in order to serve and protect.
